My mom and I have decided to take a trip down to New York this fall (either September or October) and I was just wandering if this was a good time to go? I figure because everyone is in school or working, there would be some good off-sale tickets and whatnot that would be available. If anyone has done this in the fall, let me know. Or even if you haven't and think its a good or bad idea, let me know!
Thanks everyone.

I went last year during the last week of October and it was great weather-wise because I was coming from CA and it was hot and we had fires practically surrounding the us :P So, it was such a treat to have fresh, cool, crisp air and to actually see leaves that turn for autumn! As for tickets I don't think that they go down in price. New York City seems like one of those places where everyday is part of the tourist season. I could be very very wrong though. For cheap tickets though I highly suggest waiting in line at the TKTS TKTS booth in the middle of Times Square. It's worth the wait.
Have fun!
I went last October and had a wonderful time. The weather was almost perfect, warm enough to walk around in sweaters without coats. As for tickets, I just do the TKTS thing, it's the best deal in town. Have fun

Spring and fall are my favorite times in New York. The best weather and that is also when most new shows open. September, for reasons I just don't get, is one of the slower times for Broadway shows, especially the last 2 years, with Sep 11 and all, and with post Labor Day blahs, and then there's the US Open and football season. There should be lots of tickets available then and hotel rates also get better soon after the tennis tournament. Also, expect baseball in October especially now that the Yankees got A Rod. I love New York in late September-early October! You can't beat the weather, especially when you come from NB, Canada where by that time it's really starting to cool down!
I am also coming back to New York on late September. Broadway Cares flea market is taking place around that time of year and it looks like a wonderful experience, plus the weather, plus not many tourists. But anyway, this city is fabulous all year round :)
Take care

exactly, everyone is back in school, so it is a perfect time to visit. I am hoping to go the the flea market this year. Everyone says it is a lot of fun.
Thanks everyone I appreciate everyones comments. :)
Isnt that the time that a lot of the original princapals in the shows on now in this season leave? like hugh jackman and others?
I think it actually depends on their contracts, not the season. Hugh is leaving on Spetember, because he had a one year contract and the show started on September.
Take care
Well you are talking to a New Yorker who thinks every month is a good one in NY.
