Gold Dust Orphans

Has anyone seen any shows put on by the Gold Dust Orphans? I just read an article highly praising "Cinderella Rocks" in the Boston Globe, and it's gotten me very interested in the production and the company itself. So...any comments would be great!

I go to all their shows! It is a different type of humor for sure, but entertaining if you are open-minded. Not for the children. I saw Cinderella Rocks and it was really funny. My only issue was the fact that the stage is in a night club so it is not setup for musicals. Some of the music was canned and the rest was played on a keyboard. Some of the performers had to sing really loud to be heard which caused the singing to not be very clear. It is still worth seeing and would make an entertaining evening

My friend won't stop talking about it, so I'm going 11/11 :)

Sounds great!

Just one question, the show is actually at Machine, right? I don't want to walk into the club and find myself in the wrong place.

yes it is at the machine-it's a gay club but don't get nervous, it's really nice. You go to the door and show id (if you are not 21 they just mark your hand or somthing) Then you go down the stairs and the ticket taker is right there. It is a small place and I would reccommend sitting in the seats that are right against the lighting booth-they are raised and you wont have to deal with heads in the way. Hope you have fun! Let me know how you like it, my friend did the sets for the show:>D

bump

I'm going to see the show tonight and directions would be helpful! Would my best bet be to take the T to Kenmore, and then walk? Is there a closer stop?

Thanks.

re: Gold Dust Orphans

It is pretty close to Kenmore, just get off the station and walk towards fenway park down brookline ave (pizza uno should be on your right. Take a right on to Yawkey way and take a left at the traffic light. Cross the street and the walk past Mcdonalds and then walk up the street and the machine is up the street a bit (right next to a sex shop) Hope that helps

Zenachick, thanks for all your help! And tell your friend that the sets were great!

I went to see Cinderella Rocks tonight (Saturday, 11/5) and let me tell you, it was even more entertaining than I was led to believe! I don't know how to say how fun this show is. Hilariously brilliant. I was very impressed with the talent. Honestly, I've seen "professional" actors who weren't even half as good as this group. I had a total blast, and the Gold Dust Orphans now have a loyal fan for life.

Definitely a show that should not be missed. The show is actually extending until December 11th according to Mr. Landry (the creator), and I'm hoping to see the show again if I get the chance. I urge everyone to see it.

I thought I'd also mention that I found Ryan Landry to be very hot. :)

It's funny, three weeks ago, I went to see the Boston Ballet's production of Cinderella. And while I enjoyed it very much, teh ballet doesn't come close to invoking the high praise I have for Cinderella Rocks.

re: Gold Dust Orphans

I came back here to re-read the thread after having been to the show last night! Fun fun. FYI: Ryan said that "Silent Night of the Lambs" is postponed till next year because this show is extending for 3 more weeks...
