I saw 2 shows at Dodger Stages today (340 West 50th Street) and afterwards had a drink with my husband at the bar. It's a great spot to meet some of the cast and crew from the shows playing at Dodger Stages...and from other productions as well. It seems to be a place that attracts members of the theatre community.
Plus, it's right in the theatre district and it's open before AND after shows. (I was chatting with the staff and they said that pretty soon they'll be adding snacky food and expanding their bar service.)
Anyway, we met several cast and crew members from the DS shows we saw and one from another (The Asphalt Kiss). You just take the escalator down one level and it's right there.
(They recently put up a "wall" to add some intimacy to the space, which had had an open floor plan until then. Don't be discouraged or confused if you don't see the bar right away...just follow the liquor bottles that adorn the wall all the way to the end, and you're there!)

I must agree with Miss Pennywise
My wife & I frequent Dodger Stages (Altar Boyz, Great American Trailer Park Musical, Modern Orthodox) . We have tickets to see A Mother, Daughter & A Gun in a few weeks. We also have had a few nips at the bar & everyone there is quite friendly
The building is a former movie theater & it is really an amazing complex. This is a great addition to NY theater. The shows are good, the sight lines & acoustics are first rate & the drinks ain't bad either.
Go see a show there & mix & mingle

I tried to buy one of the Altar Boyz a drink, but he was too popular for anything more than a quick chat. I may settle on a Trailer Park lady if I don't get a date soon.

The Dodger Stages is a fantastic complex, I was really impressed when I saw Altar Boyz in July (to say nothing of the show)
I just wish they had signs to the bathrooms, it took me almost 10 minutes to find them!

Midtowngym, you are a riot! Actually, a Trailer Park gal might be your best bet. The Dodger Stages bar manager told me she wants to create drinks named after shows and characters performed there. A "Trailer Park Special" could be a Pabst Blue Ribbon (in a can, of course) and a shot. So not to worry about spending a fortune there!
I'd avoid the Musical of Musicals people. They look like the types who prefer a glass of Veuve Cliquot or two, you know? (Heh. Heh.)
