I'm going to talk about something really, really trivial. If you're tempted to tell me that I should find something better to do with my time than grouse about this, trust me, I know. I totally should. But here goes.
When you look up a musical on Google, it often makes a suggestion that credits only the bookwriter. Search for "Cabaret musical," and you'll get a suggestion for "Cabaret - musical by Joe Masteroff." A Chorus Line is a musical by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, in Google's eyes. Sweeney Todd is by Hugh Wheeler and Patrick Quentin, and Pacific Overtures is by John Weidman and Patrick Quentin. Patrick Quentin is apparently responsible for two of the most innovative musicals in the past half-century, somehow.
Anyhow, I absolutely believe that bookwriters deserve full and equal credit for creating a musical, but it seems weird that Google treats them essentially as the sole authors. Don't you think it would be better if Google credited all of the writers involved in the creation of a musical in its suggestions?
