I recently finished a 6 week run of Gorey Stories, which was a cabaret-like musical of Edward Gorey's short stories. I thought the show was great and it got tons of positive reviews. However, I saw on ibdb.com that the show only played one performance!? Did anyone see the show? or know why it closed?

I just fell in love with that Playbill.
I would have loved a full-length animated film of "Sweeney Todd" done by Gorey.
A girl can dream.

Posted: 5/8/08 at 9:52amGorey is difficult to put on stage because of his unique style. There was an off-Broadway production a few years ago which was good, but I remember one of the scenes dragging on too long.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Posted: 5/8/08 at 10:00amGosh I loved Gorey's DRACULA. Making a live show appear to be like a black and white film can't be easy to pull off but the design team did a brilliant job. (I don't think the illusion was pulled off as well in City of Angels.)

Posted: 5/8/08 at 10:29amI saw a show called "The Gorey Details" with music by Peter Matz, and was very impressed with it, a great fun show. I can't remember the name of the theater, but it was the same theater where I saw 'Avow' which was a great show (with Chris Sieber), it was a little theater off of Union Square
