So we're coming to NY in mid/late August and have been trying to get tickets to see Wicked again (we already saw it once, in January). After Telecharge initially said no tickets were available for any of the time slots we have available, a few days later it said we could have Rear Mezz, Row M center for $50 each.
Yep, it is THE last row in the house.
Hell, we took 'em .
Again, we've already seen the show from 14th row so I'm fine with the fact that we have nosebleed seats. I'm happy that we actually GOT seats a mere 2.5 weeks before the performance.
I'm just trying to decide if I should bring binoculars or will the view still be "good enough" where we won't need them?
Probably a good idea. Thanks. Just wanted some feedback because the only binoculars we own are really "good" ones that start to get heavy after a while. So I was seriously considering buying new ones that might not be as strong but at least were lighter...but figured I might not have to bother if people said the view was still good enough without them.
I was in the very last row for Assassins (got to sit on barstools) and although the view was spectacular and I didn't really need them I took binoculars. It provided a different view of the show and I could really see the actors' expressions better with them. so take them in a bag and enjoy the show.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire
Scarlet Pimpernel
I had the last row for Wicked when I went to see it. I brought binoculars but ended up not using them because you missed so much that was going on outside of the binoculars' view. You might miss Idina twitch her nose or something tiny like that but other than that you can see everything perfectly, including facial expressions.
No offense to Wicked fans, but Idina's nose twitching doesn't do much for me (I'm the one here who's been called a shill for touting Toxic Audio so much...Paul Sperrazza falling down the stairs during "Thriller" is much more exciting to me [wink]).
OK thanks everybody. I think I'll buy a relatively cheap set and if I use 'em, great. If I don't, I'll wait til the next time Paul McCartney plays in FL and THEN I'll need 'em (we had tickets to see Paul in Tampa several years ago and only had the one set of "good" binoculars...our seats were so high up that we were closer to John and George than we were to Paul...lordy, did we need another set!).
Curios - Why did you use Telecharge? I find ticketmaster easier to use. I just did a search and found 2 seats in row m mezzaine for end of Aug at $50 each.
oops...it WAS Ticketmaster. Sorry. I'm just used to Telecharge for many of the other tickets I buy, that that's what automatically came out of my mouth. Er, fingers.
