definitely not worth $100 for the best seats in the house.
No worries there. By the time tickets go on sale, the best seats will be $126.25, not $100.

I just read that Hillary Duff was originally supposed to play Sandy. I'm not sure if this was common knowledge or not but this would've brought in the teens to see her. The she was fired bec. of the reality show idea.

Will Grease make money? Are you serious? Whether on Broadway, in regional theatres, community theatres, or high schools, Grease always makes money. If they have a good band, decent choreography, and one big name, it will probably turn a profit. The original production was a smash hit before a big name was attached to the show (I doubt seriously Adrienne Barbeau was a big Box Office draw at the time).
Honestly folks, why do people want this to fail? Are we somehow above popular entertainment? Grease is one of Broadway's longest-running musicals, which spawned one of Hollywood's biggest box office hits. Why the animosity? Obviously, this show is beloved world-wide. The book is delightful, the score is immediately catchy, the costumes, sets and choreography have the potential to be nostalgic kitschy fun.
Bitchy queens all over the US have at some point in their lives ground out the imaginary cigarette saying, "Tell me about it, STUD!" So don't get all high-and-mighty if-it-ain't-Sondheim-it-ain't-good-enough-for-Broadway because if you mean it, it won't matter anyway. In the ultimate scheme of things, you are in a very small minority.

MMMM-HMMMMMM...
Let's just hope they wise up and perform All Choked Up where it originally occurs with You're the One That I Want as an encore.
Yay Grease!

Posted: 8/10/06 at 6:46pmI was discussing it this afternoon actually and i realized that, yes, this will make money and in a incredibly smart way. They (Kathleen Marshall, producers, etc.) aren't casting show, the casting of the show's leads relies heavily on the average American theatregoer, presumably the people that wil watch and vote for contestants on the show. In other words, THEY CAN'T GO WRONG!While the critics, those poor Untouchables of theater society, may disagree with the leads, you're casting choices will ensure your attendance because the people are practically picking what they want to see! Throw in stunt casting and an excellent director in Kathleen Marshall, you have a palpable hit with the public.
