Grease, Wednesday 8/8

Went to Grease last night (my partner's a big fan). Here are my thoughts:

Max Crumm was pretty good; charistmatic, in good voice, dances well.

Osnes has a pretty voice, but she looks like a 12 year old girl next to the rest of the cast. No presence and weak acting (her "good" Sandy consists of lots and lots of "aw shucks" arm movement, her "bad" Sandy struts like Monty Python's high-stepping police.) The bad Sandy costume is ridiculously awful.

Powers is a one-note Rizzo, every line is spat in the same snappish tone and there were some lousy line deliveries. Good voice though, but I expected "There are worse" to be better.

Tbirds and Pink Ladies were all quite good, Marty and Rump were standouts.

Awful choreography, with a few exceptions like "Hand Jive".

I really liked the opening number.

The crowd seemed to love the whole thing, fun show for kids but I think it came across as amateurish, almost High School-ish.

So, now I've told you about it....studs.
