Tonight on Great Performances was South Pacific in concert, with Reba, Alc Baldwin and Brian Stokes Mitchell.
The CD is $75!
My question is does thirteen sell these exclusivly, will it ever be cheaper? There is no way I can afford that price.
Thanks
They are sold at retail stores. Don't worry. It's truely a great concert. I'd highly recommend the CD of the concert. (I don't have the DVD just yet.) I got it at Tower for 14.99 about two weeks after it aired. Maybe it isn't on sale now, but it's worth 18.99 as well.
Just to be clear, the $75 price is not just for the CD! It helps PBS finance the next great concert that could be aired.
Of course, I don't expect students, etc to pay that, but when you reach my age...the guilt trip starts to work. hehehe.
Don't feel bad, but get your parents (or when you start making money from your art) to contribute money to their local PBS station!
Forgive me for sounding like one of their shills, but we would not have had "The Light in the Piazza" broadcast without it!
Glad you liked the SP broadcast, it was great!!
The thing is I would be more willing to pay somewhere along the lines of $30, but $75 is unfeasible. It makes no sense that the cd is so cheap in stores, maybe the store price should be raisde so more money goes to financing future projects.

You're not buying the cd from PBS. They're giving it to you when you make a donation.
well i can afford to donate $30, think they'll give me the cd for that?

No. Why don't you just buy the cd at Best Buy and donate money to PBS? They'll take whatever you can give them, but you only get a gift if you donate a somewhat sizeable amount. I'd venture to guess that most people who make the $75 donation aren't doing it to get the cd.
No. Donate the $30 or whatever you can afford and buy the CD. It's for a good cause!
