Oftentimes it's difficult to follow a show's plot when only listening to the cd. Which recordings do you think do a good job of letting you understand what's going on? Sung through discs, such as Sweeney and Caroline or Change are obviously ideal, but I also find that Once on This Island makes for a comprehensible (and very enjoyable) listen.

Ragtime, being 2-discs, I think also does a good job of telling the story. It really captures the essence of the show, and if you've seen it, listening to the CD brings images of each scene to mind as it is heard!

Titanic, is dent.

WIW is like an opera, and the entire opening perf is on disc. That's the easiest IMO.

Try the OBC of "The Most Happy Fella."

It's the entire show, dialogue and all... and a beautiful story.

The Last 5 Years (although you do have to kind of have a basic knowledge)
Les Miserables

The London cast recording of The Rink edited in a lot of dialogue that is crucial for understanding the plot.

By Jeeves OLC - featured dialogue written specially for the recording
Martin Guerre - '99 Tour version
City of Angels - OLC
Sweeney Todd

I never thought that Bat Boy was that good at explaining the plot as it leaves out the whole 'Revelations' section of the show. Until I saw it, I had no idea what the big reveal was! Great show though...
