Does anyone know what became of the musical version of Grey Gardens? I know there was a workshop in Florida, I think, last year. Anyone have any updates?
I don't know, but the original film is one of my favorites ever!

The film is one of my absolute favorites (the Criterion edition DVD is a must for any true cinema fan). I would love to see the musical version hit New York soon.

Thanks for the info. effie. hey errico fan, how about betty as Little Edie and Angela Lansbury as Big Edie? But who to play the Marble Faun?
I am loving the idea of Angela as Big Edie. Can you just see Betty in the part?
"I'D RATHER LIVE IN ANY RATHOLE ON TENTH AVENUE THAN WITH THAT WOMAN!!!!!!!!!!"
No no no. Kathy Bates has to play Little Edie. Big Edie should be Zoe Caldwell.

Michael, Zoe is a great idea for Big Edie if Angela won't sign. I hope some producers see these ideas and steal them. I really did not think anyone would answer my question or show such enthusiasm for Grey Gardens. I'm thrilled there are some more devotees out there. Errico fan, I think you've seen the film as many times as I have.
Little Edie looks a filthy curio cabinet with sea shells inside: "Isn't that tragic?"
From what I've read, by the way, the show isn't going to be treated as high camp. I think the writers really want to explore the characters through music, though truth be told, nothing could possibly be as compelling as the original documentary. How can you top something that bizarre when its actually real??
That said, I do hope one of the musical numbers is "I have to get my voice back exactly how it was when I was 35 (You Can't Mother Darling.)"

All kidding aside. The musical has the potential to be wonderfully poignant.
Are we talking about the movie that makes Mommie Dearest seem like a love story? Why?
