Has anyone sat in the rear orchestra of the Walter Kerr? I know there's an overhang, so I wanted to know if it obstructs your view if you sit in the last few rows of the orchestra.

Sat fourth row center, looked good there. Closer would have been bad (high stage). Can't help with the back though - doubt it's a problem though.

I just saw it last night...although I was farther up (sixth row), I can tell you that rear orchestra should not be a problem. The thing that struck me about the Walter Kerr (aside from the fact that it's friggin gorgeous) was the size of the orchestra--it's as wide as a typical house from side to side, but it's not very deep so even the rear orchestra is pretty close to the stage. The overhang isn't any worse than at other houses, and besides there isn't much action in the show, if any, that the overhang would obstruct.

If you're going, enjoy--it's a really wonderful show. I was very impressed by the entire production, and there are a number of great performances aside from the incredible Christine Ebersole.

"If there is going to be a restoration fee, there should also be a Renaissance fee, a Middle Ages fee and a Dark Ages fee. Someone must have men in the back room making up names, euphemisms for profit." (Emanuel Azenberg)

Ah thank you so much SDav! I have an aunt coming in from upstate New York and she's dying to see the show so I'm looking at tickets for next week but can only find rear orchestra. Now that I know the overhang shouldn't be a problem, I shall be ordering them. I've also been dying to see this show for sometime.

Any seat in the house is fine. The walter kerr is a great theatre. And Grey Gardens is amazing. I have sat in the mezz, balcony and orchestra and have been happy all the same!! Enjoy yourself!

...What happened next, was stranger still, a woman breathless and afraid, appeared out of the night, completely dressed in white. She had a secret she would tell, of one who had mistreated her. Her face and frightened gaze, my mind cannot erase...But then she ran from view. She looked so much like you...

I sat in the second to last row in the orchestra, and like others have said, the overhang wasn't a problem at all. I thought it was a great seat and it really did feel much closer to the stage than you would expect.
