is it true they used real cats in that production?
when i saw the revival last yer, they used these weird puppets that really seemed to take everyone out of the moment.

They tried using real cats, but a young Hal Prince, in his first directing gig, decided they were too noisy.
Trivia fact: Patti LuPone and Bernadette Peters battled it out for the role of Lee, and Patti won with her stirring rendition of Lee's since-cut "The Lost Cousin."
