Interesting. I saw it the Tuesday after opening and found her accent almost nonexistant, which doesnt make sense considering the REAL little Edie's over the top real accent, interpreted brilliantly by Ebersole.

One more thing...many people are saying that Ebersole's the reason to see this...true, but I feel there are other actresses who could play these women successfully. I'd be interested to go when the great Maureen Moore and Dale Soules play the Edies.

It's the roles that are astounding, like Rose/Lovett.

There are 3 events in the first act that (fictionalized to occur in the same day) caused the downfall into the second act.

SPOILER BELOW (highlight to read)
1. Little Edie's broken engagement

2. Big Edie's divorce

3. Big Edie loses the trust fund

doodle, perhaps the dialect coach focused on Ebersole until after opening, and then put her energy into Erin? Who knows - all I know is Erin really blew me away with it on Tuesday. It was exactly Little Edie's accent.

Cool...well, I'll be going again to check.

Rath, you must get the cd, even just for the opening and closing dialogue between Edies, which didnt make it to bway.
