Guettel to Premiere Princess Bride Suite at Hollywood Bowl

Audiences at the Hollywood Bowl's upcoming "Fireworks Finale" concerts will be able to hear a suite from Adam Guettel's upcoming musical The Princess Bride. The concerts will take place on September 16th at 8:30 PM and September 17th at 7:30 PM.

"Suite" implies orchestra only. The release states Kermit and Miss Piggy will be singing songs from the American Songbook. No fear of them warbling Guettel.

My muppet Piazza cast would definitely include Sam the Eagle as the priest who sings the octet and Janice the hippie girl as the museum tourguide.

I know this is totally off the topic (I'll get to it in a minute), but if the Muppets ever did Piazza (which they wouldn't, they'd do a Disney property first) I could really see Miss Piggy as Margaret, Gonzo as Fabrizo and that thing that looks like a rat that has a Spanish accent (Pepe I think) as Signor Nacarelli.

Now back on topic...

Is Goldman going to be writing the lyrics and book, or is Guettel writing music and lyrics again?

I believe Goldman is doing the book, while Adam will do music and lyrics. But Tina Landau occasionally did a little lyric writing in their collaborations, so it's possible that Goldman could contribute something there. I would be surprised to see him take over lyrics completely, however. Not only would it be a departure from Guettel's usual way of writing, but it would also be pretty difficult given the musical structures he uses.
