Hey, my friend Janise is coming to town from Boston and she wants to catch a few shows while she is here. She hates loud noises and likes to be warned of them when she sees a show. So she wanted me to find out if there are any gun shots or anything very loud in the following shows:
Broadway:
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
Dirty Rotten Scouldrels
Doubt
The Light In the Piazza
Spamalot
The Pillowman
(how loud are they in Steel Magnolias?)
Off Broadway:
Dessa Rose
Shockheaded Peter
Thanks for all of your help and sorry for the weird posting
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
There are several shots fired in this show.
And Norbert's very loud.

I have only seen The Pillowman of those shows, and there are gunshots, not to mention one or two moments that are designed to make you jump out of your seat. If your friend is startled easily, she might not want to see The Pillowman as it is not for the faint of heart. While it is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time, it is also one of the most disturbing. It's subject matter and staging are rather horrific (although very darkly humorous at the same time) and involve grisly depictions of child murder and torture.

I know, I was just kidding about Norbert.
The gun shots are only in one scene.

I don't recall any gunshots or unusually loud noises in Dessa Rose.
