Anyone know any casting rumors for the Guys and Dolls concert at Carnegie Hall in April?
Just bought a ticket, and hoping for a great cast.
Really hoping for Megan Hilty as Adelaide!

Posted: 10/13/13 at 1:06pmI've recently become obsessed with the idea of Laura Benanti as Miss Adelaide (though I know she'd be more traditionally cast as Sarah Brown), I think she's hilarious and would knock it out of the park. Megan Hilty seems much more likely though, and she'd be great too. Regardless of whom they cast, it's bound to be better than that awful revival a few years ago.

As funny as she is, Laura Benanti is much more of a Sarah Brown than she is an Adelaide.
Personally, I'd love to see Katie Finneran take a crack at Adelaide.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.

Posted: 10/13/13 at 1:26pmI saw the London revival a few years ago. It was awful, but Jane Krakowski was a fabulous Miss Adelaide. She was by far the best thing about the entire production. It depends on who else they cast, but I'd love to see her perform the role again.

I have a feeling that this is the musical project that Patrick Wilson claimed he was doing this spring (probably as Sky?).
I was thinking that I would love to see what Nina Arianda did with the role of Miss Adelaide, but I love the Katie Finneran suggestion.
And if we're going with dream casts, I'd like to see Sierra Boggess play Sarah. Laura Benanti would be great too.

Jane Krakowski was by all accounts perfection as Adelaide. I've listened to her entire performance, and at least from the audio, she sounds incredible--her reaction to the correction from Sarah during "Marry the Man Today" (the lyric "you and me) is hilarious. It's a real shame it never worked out for her to do the show on Broadway.
I get why people want Benanti for Sarah. I think the way she has redefined herself as a master comedienne and character actress makes me want to see her take a crack at Adelaide; she can play Sarah in her sleep.
Love the Finneran suggestion too, and Nina Arianda would also be great.

I would imagine Laura Osnes would be the obvious choice for Sarah. She's the ultimate ingenue at the moment. Benanti's probably too old for that role now, unless they cast it older (as they did in 1992). For Adelaide, the field is wide open and every actress and her mother would want to play that part. Katie Finneran, Jane Krakowski, Megan Hilty, all good choices.

Good reminder, gstrus2, seeing her as Miss Adelaide is a pipe dream. Never gonna happen, but I do think she'd be a revelation. If Krakowski is in this, I'd do whatever it takes to get a ticket, but I doubt she'll do it without Rob Ashford, who directed her Olivier-winning performance in London.
I can definitely see either Laure Osnes or Ashley Brown (who has played the role before, right?) being cast. I'd love for them to go for someone unexpected, like Nikki Renee Daniels for Sarah, or Bobby Canavale for Sky. Christina Hendricks was great in COMPANY a few years ago, would love to see her take a crack as Miss Adelaide too.
