When Robes are completely covered with artifacts, souvenirs and sketches, they are retired and a new one started. Three retired Robes are at the Lincoln Center Library of the Performing arts; two are in the Smithsonian; and all others are with Actors' Equity.
In April 2002, three gypsy robes were donated to the Museum of the City of New York.
The supervision and guardianship of the Robes is under the auspices of the Advisory Committee on Chorus Affairs (ACCA), and former AEA staff member Terry Marone is the "guardian angel" of the Robes. Gloria Rosenthal is the Gypsy Robe historian.

Posted: 5/22/07 at 4:23pmThere is one presently on display at the Museum of the City of New York. I was there last July, when I saw the Dorothy Draper exhibit and again in May, this time for the Alvin Colt exhibit, and the same one is there. I suspect the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center has had displays of them on occasion. The two times I visited their museum there were exhibits, first on Original Cast Recordings and the last time the set and costume designs of an Italian designer.
