Must pay homage to the fabulous Miss Rogers. Today she would have been 92.
We miss you, Ginger! ![]()

She was the very essence of a Hollywood movie star. Although she will always be remembered for her musicals with Fred Astaire, she won an Oscar for her dramatic role in KITTY FOYLE.
And since this is a Broadway site she followed CAROL CHANNING in the Broadway and eventually a touring production of HELLO DOLLY.

She bookended her career with Broadway, therefore, her homage here is definitely relative. :) She started out in Top Speed and then landed her role that really set her career in motion, Gershwin's Girl Crazy.
We love Ginger. I wish I had been alive to see her in Hello, Dolly. I have an autographed playbill from the show, that she signed for my great aunt. My auntie gave it to me as an opening night present when I landed the lead in my 8th grade musical. Ah, middle school theatre! LOL! Actually, we did Krazy Kamp (I don't know if anyone's ever heard of it... omg, the horror), but I played Kate who sings a rendition of "Broadway Baby" (no, not the one from Follies). One line was, "I'm gonna be another Channing or Merman." and the director let me change the line to "Channing or Rogers." HA! There's a whole monologue that leads into the song, and there's a line about being the next Carol or Ethel, but at the time, everyone who knew me called me Ginger, so it just seemed very... appropriate. LOL.
Ah, memories. I also have an autographed 45 of Ginger singing Hello, Dolly. Those are my favorites of my Ginger memorabilia from Hello, Dolly. I have so much memorabilia I don't know what to do with it. I'm a sad human being. I own over forty of her seventy-two movies she ever made. *shies off into her corner* I've been collecting since I was four! *defensively* It's not THAT weird!

Roxie Hart is a fun movie. When Gwen was about to do the role in "Chicago" she told Ginger she was just disappointed she wasn't going to be able to tap dance on a metal staircase. ![]()

Nope, it's a stage version of one of hers and Fred's movie musicals, "Swing Time." It's a great movie. I suggest renting it if you've never seen it.
I can't wait for "Never Gonna Dance."
