I have a question,
My highschool will be doing 42nd street this year, the only problem is that it is the 80's one and not revival. My question is the song "About a quarter to nine" is the backround the same (ish)? Because I am singing that song for my audition but I only know the revial, and I really hope that the original backround music is about the same as the revival. I would change my song, but in the song I chose has a high E (Top space on treble clef) that I recently found out at my voice lesson thta I can belt a high E with no problem. I really want to sing this song but I am not sure if I should becuase of the backround I really really want to blow my director and producer away by belting that ( Mainly becuase my producer has it stuck in his head that a female can not belt above middle c).
Also this is my senior year performance, I am praying for the role of Dorothy Brock but I wont mind if I get the role of Maggie Jones. In the previous musicals I have been screwed over very bad like getting a role of just a chorus member. I also have the new Broadway sound ( Sutton Foster, Idina Menzel) and I personally think that it would bebefit the schools arts program by having the new broadway sound it would make more people want to come see the shows. But The producer does not seem to see my talents..
Well thank you sooooo much it is really helpful to me...
Sorry for rambeling on and on..

Sutton Foster has a different sound than Idina Menzel. And if you have that sound, wouldn't you be better for Peggy?

I would do Peggy, but I cant becuse I am not very good at tap. and also I am an Alto in my schools choir and the producer is very strict with the "If your an alto in choir you can be a soprano in the musical" even if you have a very broad range... It's messed up the producer is a dick..
Sutton and Idina do have different sounds but they are still the new Broadway sound...
The new Broadway sound?
Okay.
