Posted: 12/9/04 at 12:59amThat's it. There's a double concept recording out. Some of the songs I liked instantly...most not. The music is ok...the story is downright silly. I will give it some further listens to be fair.

Rebecca St. James was in the musical, but I don't believe she wrote it. I own the recording, and I absoltely love it! Most of my favorites come in Act I, but the show as a whole is good. I wish I had gotten to see it, but the tour ended before it came to my town!

I think it's a great recording and it get's the message across without being too preachy or finger pointing. I wish I could have seen it while it was touring. There's some video clips on the website, but no mention of any further performances. I think "Raised in Harlem" is probably my favorite song but I like the whole thing really.
I have one complaint about it, the opening "dialogue" in the song "Wedding Celebration" is an obvious imitation of a scene from "The Fifth Element". It is so close that it seems to me they should have given credit, like rappers and others do when they sample other's music. Considering the topic of the show, integrity would be a good thing eh?

I've really only heard "Secrets of the Heart" ((which i LOVE)) because in my theatre arts class, we had to do choregraphy to a showtune, and one group picked that song.
I really have to ask him if I can burn his CD, because the song is amazing and I really would like to here the rest!

That's one of the best, if not THE best, song in the show! Rebecca St. James and Latin music......such a good combination!

I am listening to it through my headphones. While, I still have a hard time with a story, so far the music is awesome. I love "Wedding Celebration" and "A Few Good Men" best so far. I'm only a bit into disc one!
I didn't give this recording the proper time before, because of the story, which I find silly, but wow - I am impressed by the music.
