I know there was a london casting recording of this..but can anyone tell me if there was a Broadway Cast Recording and if so is it on CD?

The Broadway cast recording is essential!!! But don't know if it's on CD....
Tammy Grimes, Bea Lillie, Edward Woodward and Louise Troy are all in top form, and it has one of the best overtures EVER!!!

Posted: 3/17/05 at 10:37amIt's a wonderful cast recording! Unfortunately out of print and the cheapest at amazon.com is $35. Luckily the Santa Monica Public library had a copy and that's how I have mine!

Totally wonderful score - I'd love to see a revival of this!
Unfortunately, the CD of the original cast is now OOP, though it shows up with some Amazon sellers or on eBay every now and then - but not cheap.

Posted: 3/17/05 at 11:28pmIncidentally, the song FASTER THAN SOUND was not written for HIGH SPIRITS, but is in fact by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane, and was introduced in the flop ZIEGFELD FOLLIES OF 1956. I'm not sure who performed it originally but the cast included Carol Haney, Larry Kert, Joan Diener, Bea Arthur and the incomparable Tallulah Bankhead.
