HITCH: The Musical?

Okay, so i hate threads like this, I honestly do because I don't see a point in "wishing" something would happen. HOWEVER, after watching this movie, I think it would make an AWESOME musical. I think all the right ingredients are there and I couldn't help but think about how I would stage this as a musical. I think it would work. I'm thinking David Yazbek on music, but then again maybe not. I think he could pull it out. Although he's working on Shrek, blah.

Hey...I wished. And look what happened.

John, why wasn't it good? Just wondering you're take on the movie? I mean, yeah, it wasn't flawless or Oscar worthy, but it was just a good movie, at least to me.

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Oh, it a pleasant enough distraction as long as you weren't put off by it's complete lack of one original idea. Everyone was playing into their most basic stereotypes and the plot was 'Romantic comedy 101.'

I wouldn't be interested in 'How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days: The Musical' either.

I'd be hard-pressed to convince people to spend $100 on a musical version of a movie most people barely thought was worth $8.50

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Well, that's the good thing about making it into a musical, you can tweak it a bit and make it better. I mean, a lot of the gags woudlnt work on stage (the whole jet-ski thing). I thought it was really original, the whole ending w/ the sister and her husband caught me off guard and thought that everyone's performance in the movie was spot on and great. I think ppl would shell out the money to see it, I mean they did for other movie turned stage adaptions. I doubt it would be a huge blockbuster, but it would be a good light show like Full Monty or DRS.

Tesori's working on Shrek, not Yazbek.

re: HITCH: The Musical?

I thought it was a good movie! Eva Menendes couldn't act her way out of a paper bag but...I liked it a lot! I think w/ a talented group of people it could be a great musical!
and all that I could do because of you was talk of love...

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Jeez, I guess i'm way off cause I thought Eva Mendes played the hardass role pretty well. I think it was just good all around. I wasn't expecting to like it so much. Well now that Yazbek is free...maybe he should get on this. I thought they said Yazbek was working on Shrek, I guess he stopped?

re: HITCH: The Musical?

I don't think this would be right for Broadway...not the Broadway that I pay to see, anyway.

As for the movie, Eva Mendes was my favorite part!

re: HITCH: The Musical?

I really hoped when I saw this thread that it wasn't about the movie.

I remember when the movie came out, almost all the reviews I read compared it to Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Normally I don't put too much trust in reviews, but when they all say the same thing, I had to pay attention. And when a movie takes its main plotline from reality TV, it's not going to be a good movie, and definitely shouldn't be made into a musical *coughTheApprentice*

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Actually, I think you can make a good or even great Broadway musical from practically any source. It's the execution, not the subject matter that's important.

Frankly, I can't wait for Six Feet Under, the musical.

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Some things just wouldn't work.

This is one of them. It was a mediocre movie - if brought to Broadway, it would be a mediocre musical, and that's being generous.

re: HITCH: The Musical?

OH. MY. GOD.

We could have "Alot Like Love- THE MUSICAL" as well!!!!!!
And how about "Win a Date with Tad Hamilton- THE MUSICAL"?!?!?!?
oooh, and "12 Weeks Notice- THE MUSICAL" !!!!!!!

Some things shouldn't even be thought about...

re: HITCH: The Musical?

Well, all of yall said you "hated the movie" but didnt give any reason...why did you hate it? I thought the plot was pretty cool. and I do think the movie would make a great musical. Just look at Bright Lights, Big City, even the author didn't think that Paul Scott Goodman could pull it off and he did. Look at DRS, I don't know anyone that would have thought about making that into a musical, but it worked. I mean, First Wives Club? I dont see that working either, but i'll give it a chance.
