re: HOW WRONG-

Are they "audience" pictures or are they publicity shots?
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

re: re: HOW WRONG-

i dont think it's right when i go on ebay and see Playbills that the cast had signed for sale, and people get mad when we dont want to sign autographs for the "elders"

re: re: re: HOW WRONG-

Yes, I hate people who do that because it's not right to use people like that. After a show I go and meet cast members and get autographs because I love the shows and Broadway. Then I come home and put them all in a scrapbook. Keeping them for memoires like thats is why people should get autographs not to make a dime off of someones name.

re: re: re: re: HOW WRONG-

The stuff I get, like autographs and such, is for my personal enjoyment and display at home. I would never sell them.

re: re: HOW WRONG-

go to ebay and trust me you can tell it was taken from the audience...it is shameful and ebay ought to be more careful

re: re: re: HOW WRONG-

I went to Ebay and didn't see what you were talking about. Please provide a link.

If you take a look at the Amazon.com listing for the Bernadette Peters Gypsy recording, you'll notice one of the Used items listed for it (for $50, no less) is in actuality a bootleg.

Sparky, I saw that pic. It may not necessarily be taken by an audience member.

re: re: re: re: re: re: HOW WRONG-

How about this scenario:

A young theatre/theater lover goes to see shows two, three, four times a week. Lives to see shows, and collect the memorabilia and autographs of all his/her favorite celebrities. This goes on for years. A short time after moving away from home, our young hero/heroine comes home from seeing MILLIE for the 60th time to find an eviction notice on their apartment door for non-payment of rent. (By the way this young’un has only seen RENT 47 ½ times…second acted it once.) What’s a fan to do? “How am I gonna pay my back rent?” it cries. Then a friend is overheard saying how awful it was for people to sell autographs and personal photos on e-bay, that yes, you can make a gob of money doing so, but is it right?

“Hmmm,” thinks our little friend, “A person has to have a roof over their heads, don’t they?” So…

Bernadette Peter’s Autograph on a GYPSY playbill: $55.00
Sutton Foster on a MILLIE playbill: $22.50
Rosie O’Donnell’s signature on a GREASE playbill: $00.35
Place to live: Priceless.

There is no place like home!

The End.

Maybe this should be posted on that PLOT thread.

PEACE.

re: re: re: re: re: re: re: HOW WRONG-

Thank you Sueleen. I was going to post something similar. Someone I know had quite a nice collection of show memoraabilia and had to sell much of it due to financial need.

I agree that the people who make their livings stalking celebs and getting autographs to sell should be tarred and feathered. However, you can't automatically assume that everyone selling on Ebay is that kind of person. If I ever need money and have no other way of gettoing it, I would sell my memorabilia, even though that would be a difficult thing to do.

In the lower right hand corner of each of the pics is an insignia. Does anyone know what it is?

Sparky, why is it not relevant? I agree that there are vultures out there that hound celebs for autopgaphs for their own financial gain, but you can not lump eveyone who sells personal belongings on e-bay into the same group. These are hard times for people and you can not judge too harshly unless you know all the details.

According to the description, that photo was of her taking a bow, which likely means it was taken during the curtain call.

One could think of it as free publicity.
