So, my high school will be doing Annie Get Your Gun this spring, so that's pretty exciting. Last year we did "Joseph..." and the year before was "Damn Yankees". Does anyone have any opinions on the show? I know the general gist of the production but I've never had the chance to see.
And of course the lovely Ms Bernadette starred in the revival, and so did Reba. It has some pretty good classic songs in it...

Is there a list of shows that high schools HAVE to choose from?? It seems like they always do the same show, just rotate. My high school is doing "Guys and Dolls!" HOW ORIGINAL!

I agree with that, because we're doing "Grease!" this year...but next year we're doing Les Mis (like 95% positive)....

we're so doing grease!!! eeek. we don't have the guys so i'm really scared!!! but annie get your gun... that was one of my 1st shows... i was an indian...hehe and randomly mrs. schyler adams... it can be a fun show... but the songs get really old really fast! (i know its that way for many shows, but esp. agyg) but best of luck with all the shows!!!!
all high schools do about the same shows. Our school's doing Crazy for you. That one is old but I've never heard of it til lately. Last year it was Anything goes and before that it was 42nd street. I know we've done annie get your gun...and we've never done Grease... My drama teacher has a thing against Grease.

Ahhh my school isn't on that list!!!
Does anyone know the roles in "Annie...Gun" that is good for a girl alto to try out for?
Depends on which version you're doing. If it's the Lincoln Center one, then there are two main female roles, Annie and Dolly. Both are in the alto/mezzo range and Annie, obviously, must be a belter. Dolly doesn't sing much except for the opening song, "Colonel Buffalo Bill." If it's the Broadway revival version then there are three main female roles, the two listed above (except Dolly doesn't have a song in this version) plus Winnie, Dolly's younger sister. I believe she's a mezzo. Other than that there are Annie's little sisters and several other roles taken by chorus people.
I believe we are doing the revival version- thanks for the info!
