It looks like a return to Broadway is more likely now, with the news that the Jackmans are returning to live in NYC? Maybe after his other filming commitments ( after WOLVERINE)?

Jackman is a major Broadway talent, however, BOY FROM OZ was sheer garbage and A STAR IS BORN doesn't promise to be much better.

Will someone give this man a vehicle worthy of his talents?

I saw him in SUNSET and I saw his understudy. The understudy was better. Roscoe, I liked Ms Byrne as Norma a lot.

Why is A Star as Born being dismissed as garbage. With La Chiusa working on it, it should at least be interesting...

My question from the first article is this: Is it a bad thing to have middle age housewives from suburbia as fans? I am middle age, live in suburbia, am married but I have a professional career. After all, we are the ones with the money to spend on theatre, dinner, and other entertainment. Wouldn't a performer really like to have fans who can afford the cost of an evening or multiple evenings ou? I spent much money to fly to NYC to see Boy From Oz. I bought full price tickets, and supported other shows while I was there as well. I bought the CD and tee shirt. This is opposed to student rush or lottery with no merchandise proceeds. Shouldn't we really be coveted as fans?

Suburban housewives are not cool, so anything they like is automatically dismissed by snooty critics as being unworthy.

From Jo's article - makes you wonder which Broadway show he will first visit when he returns, and if he does have something planned. Interesting that the Reidel rumor came about just a day or so before this article.

Going ... Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness.
Photo: Belinda Rolland

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness are planning to move the family to New York after X-Men Origins: Wolverine wraps in June.

We've loved having the A-listers home and their class and down-to-earth attitude will be sorely missed. Australia's loss is America's gain.

Last week Furness jumped on a plane with seven-year-old Oscar to spend two weeks in the Big Apple looking for schools.<<<

Anyone have a clue why the fall workshop of Star is Born was cancelled (per Playbill.com)?

Playbill.com made a clarification --

"Fall Star Is Born Workshop Will Go On As Scheduled
By Andrew Gans
15 May 2008

The Sept. 22-Oct. 27 workshop of A Star Is Born — the new musical based on the classic 1954 film of the same name — will go on as originally scheduled.

A May 14 Equity announcement had said that the workshop had been "postponed until further notice." A May 15 follow-up notice retracted that statement, saying, "The Workshop Contract Production of A Star Is Born will be produced as scheduled. It is only the Equity Principal Auditions that are being postponed."..."

Only, what does "only the Equity Principal Auditions that are being postponed" mean?

Any further word on this (since Sept. 22 is this week)?
