"hair" is the story of 6 patrons in an exclusive hair salon in midtown manhattan during the late '60s. the musical explores their loves, lives, trials and tribulations as each of them tries to find the seminal meaning of life through the dawning of the age of aquarius.

a brief synopsis I found by googling, try it sometime

The show follows 'The Tribe', a group of politically-active, long-haired 'Hippies of the Age of Aquarius' fighting against conscription to the Vietnam War.
. Among them are Claude and Berger — a pair of friends battling against Claude's draft notice, and Sheila, who is in love with both of them. Jeannie is always protesting about something, and together with Woof, Crissy, Hud and Dionne they epitomise the hippy days of the late Sixties.

The many songs include "Aquarius", "Good Morning Starshine", "Let the Sunshine In", "Hare Krishna", and "Easy to be Hard".

Ummm....tree-loving hippies were somewhat in the future, or perhaps on the other coast. These hippies were enamoured of certain herbs, however.

I recently saw a production of HAIR...not the concert...and it brought up all kinds of emotions in me. Some of it would be considered outdated, but it can be a vital picture of the times. And sadly, some of it is amazingly relevant to current times.
