Hello!
I was in my local record store today and I found an off-broadway recording album of Hair. The one with the Native Americans on it... how rare is that recording? I can't find anything about it

The off-Broadway album was briefly reissued in RCA's budget series in the mid 1970's (as ANL1-0896) but that also seems to have had a short catalog life. The deluxe 2 CD set with both albums gives you a chance to hear it but I find the performances a little rough and some tempos really drag. The extra material (The Climax, The Bed, Dead End) is interesting to hear.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
