Robbie, I am right there with you, if I go by your experiences and logic. In that case, I have been Frederic 3 times in Pirates! Anyway, I wish I could audition for Guiseppe....however, I don't think a black Zangara would work. I wish they were holding calls for the Balladeer! Anyway....I know what you mean about Equity calls. Especially since I am not Equity....but I have gotten a couple of callbacks at Equity calls. I must say I have been extremely lucky. Ah well, dems the breaks.
Cheers,
The Balladeer

Sheekala,
I have always been concerned about this and I trust that you know what your talking about in the biz...do you have to be Equity to have a good agent that will submit you to private auditions etc? Or just that you have the agent who will help you is something thats key. I am a sophomore in college and majoring in theatre. I feel that by the time I graduate I will be almost 23 years old and it will be just too late to ever get a chance to get into a broadway chorus role. I do know some people who would def. do a lot for me in the biz but I dont want to become equity yet and earning the 50 hours will take me forever. Does anyone else have any advice? I also will be auditioning in Boston and am quite discouraged by what I hear on here, but it is true to an extent I suppose. Are the same people that are making casting decisions for "under the table" people the same ones that will be at an open call? I am doing it for the experiennce and would like to atleast be "seen" by the real people

Posted: 10/7/03 at 11:41pmi dont have an agent nor am I equity but, I always submit myself for stuff..and do get calls (mostly for film stuff)...i do crash eq calls to see if they will see me (RENT almost always sees you if it's a principal call) the only prv audition i ever got was for the Hair tour (without having to submit myself) but, thats the extent..just go to anything and everything and have a blast. It's the only way to get your feet in the door. My only problem is..im 20 and look 15. i ALWAYS get questioned if i am still in high school. Ive tried to change my look many times but, it doesn't help...i feel like sutton foster. Updated On: 10/7/03 at 11:41 PM
