Hi there.
I need some help about Hairspray. I read that Amneris works there so I could really appreciate the advice if you read my post, but everyone else is welcome. I am coming to NYC from Greece on Dec. 6-15. I reaaally want to see Hairspray. All the other shows i want to see have available good seats I can book online, except Hairspray. I read that you can get tickets if you go to the Box Office one or two days before the show. Since i need to do my planning for the other shows, i decided to leave TUESDAY empty and try the box office. Do you think that this is the day where I'll have the most luck of getting tix from the Box Office or maybe another day is better ? I could try a matinee but i don't know if Harvey is doing them and i definetely want to see him. Any help will be much appreciated.
Take care
Well, Harvey has never missed a performance so there is a very very good chance no matter when you see it you will be seeing him!
As for the show I know I usually have the easiest time getting Thursday night tickets for Hairspray. Now That has just been my experience but Tuesday should have the same chance. there are a few things you could do to get tickets. You can try before Tuesday to get tickets definitely try that first. But it you don't luck out you can go that day in the morning before the box office opens and wait you can then buy SRO tickets if you really want to see it. you can also so enter the raffle to try and win rush tickets they are in the last row of the Mezz. Have done bother rush and SRO and It's about the same in the long run. SRO you might have heads in the was and Rush your a little high up but you can still see everything. But you are taking your chance whit the raffle depending on how many people are there for the drawing they have 25 rush tickets a day and around 18 STO tickets.
But my suggestion if you really want to see the show and can't get the tickets in advance you should go early before the box office opens and stand in the cancellation ticket line as soon as they open the doors. If you are in the front of the line when the box office opens you have a really good change of getting ticket. That is how I ended up getting a ticket in Row G orchestra for Marissa's last show. You need to have $100 cash with youto buy the tickets. They always have a long line for cancellations but I know at least the first few people almost always get tickets. A lot of time they are selling cancellation tickets up until the show starts. But if you get there early then you can get it over with and do other things with your day.

Try to get your tix as early as possible. The closer it gets to Christmas (Dec. 25), the more crowded it will be.
i agree with penny lou... she told you everything there is to tell...Best advice is to get to the neil simon around 8am maybe even 7:30am since it's Hairspray and december which = winter break for almost everyone in college and southern states... and get sro. They are $20 each and you can get 2 per person... they are excellent spots and since it's a tuesday and not usually 100% full, there is a chance that our lovely ushers will give you a seat..we have cool people who work there so your best bet if you cant get good seats is to get sro and chances are if no one buys a cancellation ticket, you will be able to get their seat during the 1st act.
yea thats what happend when I got SRO I enede up sitting by the 2nd song it was cool payed $20 and sat in $90 seats!
Thanks a lot guys ! I don't mind paying full price tickets, but if SRO and cancellation tickets are my only chance, i will definetely try that. And maybe i will keep trying Ticketmaster till the day before my trip, in case something shows up. Thanks again !
Take care
