Hairspray Re-cast??

Hiya,

Just wondering if anyone knows anything of the hairspray re-cast?
Is Leanne leaving? If so do they have anyone lined up as yet?? Can people just send their CVs to David Grindrod cos I've heard two different sides to the story.

A young actress with Noel coward after a dreadful opening night performance said to him 'Well, i knew my lines backwards this morning!'' Noels fast reply was ''Yes dear, and thats exactly how you said them tonight'!'

Rumours I've heard seem to agree Leanne Jones and Ben James-Ellis are staying and Rachael Wooding and and Tracey Bennett are going. Not sure about other roles. I've also heard that Liz Robertson is in.

Only thing so far I know for definate is that Michael Ball is staying until April 25th 2009.

Leanne is staying but Charlotte is getting a show or 2 a week.

Leanne (Tracy), Ben ( Link), Paul (Corny) , Johnnie (Motormouth Maybelle) , Michael ( Edna) , Elinor ( Penny) , Ian ( Wilbur) and Adrian (Seaweed) are staying.
Charlotte Riby (Tracy Stand-by) is staying and having confirmed shows.
Zoe Rainey is taking over from Rachael Wooding as Amber.
Liz Robertson is taking over from Tracie as Velma.
Raquel Jones is taking over from Natalie as Little Inez.

Tracie Bennett will be a hard act to follow but Liz Robertson is a robust challenger.

I read on an interview with David Grindrod that its apparently not as acceptable nowadays to send CVs etc into the casting people themselves. I still think you should do it. Can't hurt to try. They might not look at it but they might well do. Just explain your interest and you understand it might be seen as inappropriate but your really interested in any recasting!

It has been confirmed that Ball will be Turnball until 25th April.

Also the show has just sold its 500.000 ticket, so as a baseline figure, say each seat averages £50, I work out this show has grosses £25 million, not bad figures + merchandise on top of that. Have to say good luck and go and get another £25 million for such a great show!
