Hairspray open call

Did anyone go to the open call in Boston today? I did and was called back for Tracy. It was a great audition and I saw lots of people from my "theater past" lol. I got to do two of Tracy's songs and the scene with her and Link in the prison. Was anyone else there?!

My "Link" was Allison, one of the casting directors. :-p Not very romantic! Haha. And I think I heard the Chicago auditions are in January.

Where will Hairspray hold their other open calls....I was going to attend either the New York or the Boston auditions, but decided to wait and see what happens. I live in Atlanta, and would love to have that opportunity, do you think the Hairspray Auditions will ever make its way to the south?!?

Hmm...I know they're auditioning in Chicago in January but that's all I know. We had lots of people from the South at the Boston call yesterday! One girl from Atlanta actually, named Laura Davis, she was right before me on the callback list and was VERY GOOD but I was surprised she was called back because she is a little tall for the role. She was great though! I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I think they were looking mainly for Tracy's, Edna's and Seaweed's. In Boston, about 350 people auditioned and they called back around 40. I think there were ten or so for Tracy, four for Edna, and 10 or so for Seaweed, and the rest were either Penny's or Amber's, and maybe one or two Link's. They only called back a limited amount because callbacks were the same day as auditions, and they assigned 15 minute callback slots to each person. Auditions ran from maybe 10 am till around 1:30 pm and callbacks started around 2:30 pm and ran till 5, from what I heard.
