re: Fantastic!

gee, I don't know who this CKeaton is, but I like the way he/she thinks!!!

re: re: Fantastic!

He thinks that Hairspray is a sure hit anywhere it goes.

He also thinks that he's going to quit his boring consultant job to go apply to sweep streamers or drive radio controlled rats for a living, because being around that kind of magic every day would make him a very, very happy person.

(oh! if only my high school guidance counselor had advised me to keep a portfolio of my technical theatre work... I wouldn't have ended up in business school)

"refreshed" hope? I happen to think TO theatre is pretty vibrant! Hairspray is a definate jewel in the crown, but we have Last Five Years & Urinetown opening shortly plus lots more alternative shows like "Tape". Theatre rules!!(ok our newspaper reviewers don't BUT...)

re: re: re: Fantastic!

I agree that with the upcoming shows such as Urinetown, Last 5 Years, Wicked, etc. there is no problem with programming at all. The Mirvish boys and their colleagues know what's exciting and hot...

That said, I have been very disappointed by a couple recent productions that haven't aged very well in Toronto *cough*MammaMia!*cough*... and a few gaps in the schedule in the last few years. There have been too many dark theatres in the great white north...

(Disclaimer: I'm from Upstate NY, pretty much equidistant from NYC and Toronto, so I'm not in Toronto all the time... usually on business or pleasure - or both! re: re: re: Fantastic! )
