Just sharing info on our experience with Hamilton Cancellation Line.
It's really obvious where to stand. no chairs or seats allowed. If you are early you will be able to sit on the steps. Bring a blanket if you're there early unless it's peak summer.
After reading a billion posts it seems like on a non Matinee day they don't start giving tickets out until later in the afternoon. We went on Thursday 4/13/2017. It was a spur of the moment decision fro my daughter's birthday. We got there around 9 am on the off chance that we would get lucky (even thought he weather was great and it was spring break week) and the line wouldn't be too long. The first person on line got arrived around 1 am (and was given a ticket around 4pm), the next several people came around 5 am-6am (tickets given 5-6pm) , and then we got there at 9am.
It was a hectic 15 minutes before curtain when they gave out the remaining tickets. as others have posted you can get 2 tickets. Since it was so close to curtain we had to go right in and since we were 5 altogether we didn't know if we had all made it in! Thank goodness we did as did 3 more people behind us. It seems like they gave out @10-15 tickets all together. The people who got their tickets earlier in the day were allowed to leave and come back.
Seats were insane (7 row center). Amazing!!!!! The show was awesome, but you already knew that!
How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? Does cancellation pay face value or is there a discount?

Cancellations used to be a flat 199, though I've heard they've recently gone up a bit (to either 220 or 240 I can't remember)
Standing Room Only is 40
Seats are either unclaimed lottos in the first two rows or house seats in the middle (row J thereabouts, the finest seats in the theater if you ask me)

Yes the tickets were 226 each and they were definitely the house seats.
