It's a fine recording (not my favorite King and I recording or anything) but why the heck would that album win the Grammy for Best Album?

Normally I would say there's zero chance they would get nominated just because it's a cast recording but Hamilton might get lucky with it being a weak year. The only two artists that are pretty much a lock in this category are Taylor and Kendrick which leaves the rest of the category wide open. However the Grammys have a long history of ignoring rap and hip-hop artists which doesn't bode well for Hamilton. I don't think they would win but it would be cool just to see them get nominated.

Although, like many have said, it is highly unlikely, Hamilton winning would have such a positive impact on Broadway and musical theatre as a whole. I would expect to see a huge surge in seats across the district, a huge surge in Hamilton prices, as well as a huge surge in Broadway's location in culture if this were to happen. Combine this with its Drama Desk, Tony extravaganza, LMM's Genius awards, many interviews and all else that will come, and the show will be unstoppable.

The one with Elvis singing along to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Surely that's a worthy winner.

Actually, her album has received pretty good reviews from Rolling Stone magazine and the NY Times.
I like Taylor Swift's 1989, but it is still formulaic pop music. It does not bring anything new to the table. I think Hamilton crosses genres and is truly groundbreaking. It also seems to have support from the music industry too, as we see week after week music industry royalty attending performances.

I'm sorry. I misread the title of the thread. LMFAO!!!!! I. Thought we were talking about Best Show Album. LOL!!!!! I guess that does sound kinda weird that I'd want THE KING & I to win Grammy Album of the Year.
