I got the cd and here is my review-
It is definitely the best GYPSY recording in my opinion! Bernadette is amazing and I love the way she sang every song.... She seems to know exactly when to do things with parts of a song.... She definitely shows this in "Rose's Turn" and "Some People"... Both which were incredible! My other favorite song is "You Gotta Get A Gimmick." All three ladies are good but the one who definitely stands out is Kate as Mazeppa... The ladies who play Mazeppa on the other recording sing like they're dying dying... While Kaite DOES have a "character voice", (if you want to call it that), she can definitely sing! Tammy Blanchard was good too but Bernadette obviously outshines her... Kate Reinders was also a favorite of mine! This cd is awesome and I recomment that everyone buys it! :)
I found it at Best Buy (since we were there anyway) for 14.99. I was so happy.
For me, "Rose's Turn" is the highlight. I find that song so...emotional. I think Bernadette is phenomenal. I like John Dossett too, he has such a lovely voice. Oh and I like the Moo Cow song! The lyrics are typical Sondheim. I love that man.

I was at the store and thought about buying it but decided against it since they had a movie on dvd I have wanted for so long and they had 10 copies of GYPSY and only one DVD. So I went back today and lo and behold-- NO GYPSY. All of them gone. And this is in suburbia Washington/Balitmore. I should have stuck with the plan ond bought it.

It's definitely a great recording. I got mine at Coconuts too, BwayTheatre11. But I paid $16.99 for mine.
I went to the signing. I had fun....met some other Broadway "Fanaticks." ![]()
I have a few different Gypsy recordings, and I can honestly say that this is my overall favorite.
The entire cast sounds amazing.
The highlights for me:
Rose's Turn (and I love the fact that they have the last dialogue scene between Rose and Gypsy)
Small World
All I Need is the Girl
You Gotta Get a Gimmick
Together, Wherever We Go
I have listened to it so many times already. *Listening to Small World as I post this.

Well, I can finally say I am into the CD. I told you it would take me a couple days, which it did, and now I love it! I like Small World, Everythings Coming Up Roses, Roses Turn, and Together, Wherever we Go.

Gypsy is one of those shows where it seems that every song is a great song. Funny Girl, Hello Dolly and Mame are others like that.
