Happy Birthday Jerry Herman!

He was born on July 10, 1931.
Jerry Herman
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

Happy Birthday Jerry Herman!

Thank you, Mr Herman for the many, many nights of sheer, unadulterated pleasure in the theatre. There is nothing quite like a Jerry Herman score to get your foot tapping and chase away the doldrums. I do wish Encores! would stage MILK AND HONEY, as I've never seen it on stage and I'm very fond of the score. Hard to believe a 30 year-old could write such poignant songs for a middle-aged couple.

And as someone who's been openly living with HIV for almost 30 years, you are an inspiration, and the living embodiment of your song "I'll Be Here Tomorrow".

Lifting a glass in your honor!
'Our whole family shouts. It comes from us livin' so close to the railroad tracks'
