Posted: 10/10/04 at 10:55pmYes, thanks for making Roger DeBris a great character! And I didn't forget about your small role on "Saved By the Bell" when you played the ring salesman (when Zack was in charge of buying class rings).

Not only the funniest Roger, but the best. By far the best. Happy birthday!
Millie, did you see that episode? I've been waiting so impatiently for it to come on. I saw his guest spot on Cheers - hilarious. "...You can't do that."

I *think* you can find it on the Saved By the Bell DVD set...let me check which one.
EDIT: I don't think the episode appears on any of the DVD sets. But you can hear his voice as Lumiere on the Beauty and the Beast cast recording.

I know, I've had it on repeat all day.

Posted: 10/10/04 at 11:14pmLOL. I wish I saw him as Roger DeBris on Broadway, but I saw the tour. But the guy on tour (Lee Roy Reams) played the role well.

Posted: 10/10/04 at 11:15pmYou saw him too? I loved him. I really wish I could've seen Gary as Roger. I don't want to wait more than a year to see the movie. *bounces impatiently* I will wait, but I'll be terribly impatient.

Ack! I can't believe I almost missed Gary's birthday!
I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Beach twice as Roger and he was stupendous. I can not wait until January when I will have the chance to see him again in La Cage - he's the main reason I'm going!
Happy birthday Mr. Beach - you are truly an assest to Broadway!!

Oh, yeah the movie! I am so happy they are making a movie, but it sucks that I have to wait until 2005. Grrr...so I will see Gary's Roger DeBris after all.
I have a feeling they'll cut these songs (plus all reprises):
In Old Bavaria
You Never Say Good Luck On Opening Night
Where Did We Go Right?
Goodbye!
Opening Night
Guten Tag Hop Clop
In Chicago, they did about 12/13 songs from the musical, so if you subtract those songs, plus the overture and reprises, that makes about 13 songs. What songs were they thinking of cutting?

In Old Bavaria - probably
You Never Say Good Luck On Opening Night - probably
Where Did We Go Right? - I dont know, if they do, they'll make this dialogue
Goodbye! - I was thinking like after the credits for this one...
Opening Night - probably during the opening credits
Guten Tag Hop Clop - i dont think they'll cut this one, its Will Ferrel's chance to shine as a dancer lol

Yeah, yeah, true! I hope they don't cut it. On the CD it's okay, but I loved it performed with the added in instrumentals you don't hear on the CD...not to mention the dancing!
I remember in Jeffry Denman's book, at one point he said that "You Never Say Good Luck..." seemed like it was just put in for a costume change. I think that is something they could cover in a few lines dialogue. Same with "Where Did We Go Right?". And instead of "In Old Bavaria" as a separate song, as they are showing Will, I think they should show him humming that tune to himself and quietly singing a few of the lyrics under his breath while he is grooming his pigeons, that way they could include it in the show.
