'Happy Days' Closed Off-Broadway?

Posted: 2/28/05 at 10:42pmI just read over at ATC that the off-broadway run of "Happy Days" starring Lea DiLaria closed unexpectedly. I know it was received relatively poorly --anyone able to give this rumor any validity?

I saw the show in previews and after it opened. The first performance was funny, charming and understated (for Lea Delaria.) After the bad reviews her performance drastically changed. It was angry, spiteful, lewd and ugly. Clearly Lea was giving a f___ you to everyone. Very sad, because that first performance showed such promise. No wonder the producers closed up shop early.

Ahh! So many of the same post!
So the show did indeed close unexpectedly?

That is sad, midtown. I was supposed to go see it for a class, but I got really sick and had to stay home. My friend went, and she hated it. She described Lea's performance a lot like you say it changed to. That's a shame.

Interesting...it was scheduled to close on March 13. Here is the official web site and it says 2/1-2/27.

Posted: 3/1/05 at 3:25pmI'm dissapointed now. I was putting it off until towards the end of the run. Well, nobody to blame but myself...
