To all of the dads out there, and their dads, and so on and so forth !!
Unfortunately, I lost my dad when he was only 44, but he introduced me to the theatre, and passed on his love of music and the arts to me.
I can only imagine how emotional Audra is going to be today at "110" -

Excellent topic. It was also my dad who introduced me to shows. Well, actually it was a school trip in 10th grade that got me hooked, but my dad sealed the deal by seeing my excitement and getting me a yearly theater subscription. I'll never forget the first show he took me to--a little musical called Paper Moon in 1996. My dad still has his record collection--original recordings of Carousel, My Fair Lady, etc... it's just like mine, except I have CDs.
Sorry to hear your dad is no longer with you. My dad is only 66 but his health has declined dramatically in the past 2 months because of his Pakinson's disease, and now he is living in a nursing home. It really sucks, and he is very confused and angry. It's hard to see the person who was in charge for so long wearing a diaper and sitting in a wheelchair looking at nothing all day. Anyway, a few weeks ago I played my Carousel CD for him, and I think he enjoyed it.

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dad, Testing, and I'm sorry your dad is having health problems, Phantom.
I just thought I'd contribute to the conversation by adding that my dad got me into theatre, too! As a matter of fact, one of my earliest memories is him playing The Most Happy Fella OBCR for me. He took (and still takes) me to a lot of shows, and I am so grateful that he introduced me to something that has become one of my greatest passions and joys in life.
Happy Father's Day to everyone!

Thanks, Jackal---- Its so funny. I remember my dad used to put on his old records, and I used to go nuts !!!
"How can you listen to this?", I would ask him.
He would play Jerry Vale, Mario Lanza, (to name a few), and endless showtunes and opera.
Little by little, as I got older, I started turning into my dad ! The things I used to laugh at him for, I now love.
