Has anyone heard anything on whether they are trying to bring this show to broadway? I know it didn't make it in Philly. Updated On: 7/6/04 at 01:00 AM
and content issues...
and didn't Barry loose the rights for a while or something?
The show was about to open in Philadelphia when the producer announced that he had not gotten the funding he promised from the financers. They stopped production but the buzz was that the show was doing very well in rehearsals and it HAD done well in CA during it's first life.
They have new producers and moving forward now and hope to begin working again in Sept and the last I heard Brian D-J was supposed to be able to come back to his original role as the Rabbi. Some great music. Someone here said 'content issues' That is not at all what I've heard from anyone. Strictly financing and a really bad producer who made promises he couldn't keep. They sued for the rights and won them back and are now back on track and hope to be on Broadway sometime in 2005.
well, Sam, i own up to saying "content issues" because that is what i've heard from quite a few folks who saw various versions of the show. It was just a joke. For "straight" journalism, please consult the New York Times website. For rumors and fun stuff, you're in the right place. A long history of workshops usually indicate that the "content" is changing or being re-worked.
P.S. you can always tell which poster "said" something by looking to the left of their post on your screen. Just a tip.
