I would stab ice picks in my ears before the end of "Some People". I like Mr. Fierstein just fine, but even his speaking voice is painful.

Harvey playing Rose? No.
Harvey directing Gypsy at some point down the line? Given how he managed to elevate the direction of Leveaux's dreadful Fiddler revival during his time in it simply with his performance, I think he'd do something great with Gypsy.

I think he'd be brilliant, personally.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

He sang Rose's Turn once, in 2005, at the 75th birthday concert for Sondheim at the New Amsterdam.
It was while he was playing Tevye, and he performed the number still in his Tevye costume, very seriously, without any camp. It wasn't a pretty sound, but it was riveting.
