Harvey's truly an amazing person.
The first and only time I saw Hairspray (please don't kill me, I don't live in NY!) the group I was with got to stay in theatre afterwards for a talkback and when Harvey came out everyone cheered. I'll never forget how one little girl asked him what it was like when he won his Tony and he replied in that infamous voice, "Which one cookie, 1,2,3 or 4". And then, after the laughter, he went on to say that it was a great honor and how he felt so blessed to be recognized by his peers.
That's the Harvey I'll always remember: a man who is not only talented and funny, but also a man who is humble enough to thank those who put him where he is. And while this may be the end of his Edna, let's hope he'll be back on Broadway again real soon after a well deserved break!

I have a little hunch this will not be the end of his Edna. I predict it will be captured on film in the not too distant future!

There is many a slip twixt an announcement and a release date! Let's see if Damn Yankees' & Producers do OK @ the Box office before we call the local Cineplex for times!

the film rights for the musical have been sold to New Line...absolutely nothing else is true or false...there is no start date or casting, for there is no director yet...

Mel Gibson wants to do it, but only if Edna gets flogged

I wish St Melvin WOULD direct this show- maybe repeated exposure to its messages would cause him to rethink his utter intolerance of those w different ( BUT VALID)views & beliefs!

The OBC of "Hairspray" made me glad and honored to be a part of this crazy theatre world. The entire company had so much heart, soul and utter joy when performing. Harvey- you will ALWAYS be Edna. Thanks for many wonderful evenings at the Neil Simon!!! Will he work on the "La Cage" revival?

It's a shame he smells like boiled ham. If it were not for that handkerchief covering my mouth and nose I would never have been able to get close enough for an autograph. Such a professional and someone who will truly be missed.

Dame, people really don't say hussy enough. And it's definitely a lot classier than a lot of the newer synonyms. I think I'm going to add that to my regular conversation since it's so much fun to say too.
