Just now on VH1 (Big in '03 Awards), they had some "Gay Idol(s)" or some similar award. My mom called me in to the living room because Harvey was on. They had people talking about him and how he is proud to be gay. They had pics of him in Edna garb and everything. Then they come on and say the Queer Eye For The Straight Guy guys won! I was upset. They are great, but not as great as Harvey! Oh and Voiceanth, Jessica Simpson just lost "Best Quote" to the Dixie Chicks! I bet you are pissed...
After hearing Natalie Maines speech on the "Big in '03" awards I think she is my new hero. My favorite was when she said at the end "I'm working on my new hit single...goodbye Cheny" or something to that effect.
It was also fun to see Liza present the award for best gay icon.

Harvey deserved the award. He's intelligent, articulate, passionate and well-spoken on important (gay) causes. The QUEER EYE/STRAIGHT GUY guys are banal; and the show is insipid & uninspired. But, it was a VH1 award after all...so, in the spirit of pedestrian entertainment,I guess that it was appropriately awarded to the proper party.
Harvey is middle-aged, chubby, on the stage elevates drag to high art with no goal other than entertaining and enlightening. The Fab 5 are under 35, do make-overs on TV, inadvertently promoting all new products for body/home. In the America of 2003, big shock which was dubbed "the winner..."
