I saw the final preview. This was my fourth time seeing a show at 3DT (after Parade, Damn Yankees, and Ragtime), and as a fan of Seussical, I was disappointed. The ensemble was great, as were the Bird Girls Mayzie, and Gertrude. Cathy Rigby is a national treasure, with endless energy and personality. The Horton was a little more subdued, but seeing his film and TV credits in his biography explain that a little more. The sets and costumes were all right, although we had many tech issues and few dropped/wrong lyrics. Cathy was dropped at the end of Act One during a blackout and apparently broke her rib and chin, but went along with Act Two and the weekend of performances just fine.
All in all a fine production, but not the strongest show I've seen from 3DT. I'm excited for their upcoming production of Side Show!
