Has Anyone Recently Seen Xanadu (the film)?

Hello. This past weekend, I saw "Xanadu" (the film) for the very first time. It was quite a surreal experience. I became a bit nostalgic while I saw the movie. The movie came out in 1980... the same year I graduated from high school. Yes, I heard it was one of the worst films ever made. But, I went in determined to like it. It was likable, in a way... sort of amusing. I didn't take it too seriously. One scene that make me go "huh?", was the scene where Sonny is talking with the Gene Kelly character in one place... then he chases after Kira. He then proceeds to go off a pier and into the water. Then, Gene Kelly magically appears in the scene after Sonny Malone gets out of the water. What the hey? from RC in Austin, Texas... arriving in NYC on June 10th.

Gypsy: Tuesday, June 10th
??? : Wednesday, June 11th: (2 p.m.)
Xanadu: Wednesday, June 11th (8 p.m.)
A Chorus Line: Thursday, June 12th

P.S. I still haven't figured out what to see on Wed. June 11th (2 p.m.). The off Broadway shows I wanted to see will end before I get there or they don't show at that time. Krikeys....

I like the film and always have. Yes, everything anyone says about it is true, but I just like it.

Cheyenne has this habit of hacking into peoples' accounts and changing their avatar to a picture of himself.

I know I was trying to change my previous avatar to the glowing Olivia Newton John (Kira) pic. Then, I kept getting that dreaded error message. I didn't access that Cheyenne pic... but voila... it appeared as if out of thin air. I'll take him. from RC in Austin, Texas P.S. How odd... in my avatar... I have Cheyenne Jackson (Sonny Malone)... and in the place where that avatar picture is supposed to appear in my profile... there's ONJ as Kira... two different avatars? What the hey!

I saw the film again a few weeks ago and was only reminded how much I think it's just awful! But awful in a bad, "omg what were they thinking!" sort of way.

The show is a VAST improvement, and a lot of (surprisingly intelligent) fun. It's my pick for Best Musical this year. The movie... meh.

It's such an awful film! And I absolutely LOVE it!
It's way better than the bway show, IMO.

They are set to release a special edition dvd of it on June 17.

Not only did the see Xanadu, the film...but I saw it in the theatre...on opening night. I went with my 2 sisters who loved ONJ and even then, I could appreciate the awful/wonderfulness of the movie!

So can I. I liked both ONJ and Gene Kelly's role. I didn't like the character they choose to play Sonny. It has some really odd twists to it but the theme of being more true to your own work was nice. That roller disco-o-rama thing is something else.

I have also liked the duet between ONJ and Gene Kelly. Some of the songs I enjoy too. I own it and we watch it once in awhile just for fun. I have seen worse Movies.

It is a terrible film that I keep trying to forget and can't. It's impossible to forget the beautiful Olivia Nutron Bomb.
