This is very odd. I know Jason Mills who has been the touring phantom since december has been out a lot, and it looks like his u/s Stephen Tewksbury is replacing him already!
I first found this article:
http://www.khq.com/Global/story.asp?S=7899380&nav=menu438_2 that phantom will come to Spokane october, and "Stephen Tewksbury, the actor who plays the Phantom in the production, performed the song "The Music of The Night" at the luncheon to give guests a sneak peak of what to come."
Then I found this blog post: http://www.khq.com/Global/story.asp?S=7895909&nav=menu438_2 that says: "We were fortunate enough to be treated to a performance by the Star of the Show Stephen Tewksbury. He took two days off playing the Phantom from the show's Omaha Nebraska run, to come to Spokane for the announcement."
Then I found these two videos:

What is going on?

That is kind of strange. I have heard that he has missed a lot of performances. Now he's being replaced? I really would like to know what's up with that as well.
It's about time they let Steve take over....VERY well deserved. :)
Oh great, now I HAVE to see it in Sacramento.

Tewksbury played Phantom when I caught the tour in Chicago over Christmas and the audience loved him.
I have pmed Sara Ford on facebook to make sure this is not an error. I saw Jason in Louisville, and he was an amazing Phantom. I hope he is not already leaving
I really don't care for 'Phantom', but I'd sit thru it again HAPPILY to see Stephen Tewksbury :)
Saw him as Enjolras in LES MIZ. Glad to see/hear he is doing well in another of my favorite shows as another one of my favorite characters.
He was an average Enjolras but a spectacular Javert (when he first started out). I'd love to see him as the Phantom but because of my general disdain for the city of Sacramento hope that he's just filling in for a city or two and is not actually the principal Phantom.
