Hello! I know, I know, this might sound silly but, I'm a member of a Paranormal Group that investigates supposed haunted locations. We actually get lots of calls and have had some pretty interesting things happen. (insert Ghostbusters theme here.) Anyway, we have been asked to participate in a television program produced by NBC. We will be investigating the Belasco Theatre on 44th St. We actually have permission to shoot up in the apartment above the theatre as well as everything underneath. I've got lots of info on the theatre and stories about it being haunted but I would love to be able to speak to someone who has had a personal experience there. So if you or someone you know would like to help us out and maybe get your face on the tube, let me know.
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Try contacting Chuck Wagner.

Or Melissa Errico.
The 2005 Playbill yearbook has a story of her encounter with the Lady in the Blue Dress.

Posted: 8/30/06 at 1:35pmWhen I went to see Awake and Sing this year at the Belasco, there are curtains on the side box seats, and I was sitting in the front row mezz, and I could swear i saw the curtains moving every few seconds. Strange. I took a tour of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London and thats haunted.

Mr. Belasco and his date (I'm assuming it's his date) see every show. If they don't like it, the actors know.
I've read stories about Con Edison refusing to go in the basement of the place because it's haunted.

Posted: 8/30/06 at 2:11pmI thought there were quite a few published accounts of spiritual activities occuring even these days in the Belasco Theatre. I haven't tried it, although it IS a fascinating subject...but why not google haunted belasco? Or the acxtor Belasco? Good luck with everything.

What was their 'review' for Dracula then??
I was more scared about the monsters flying by than the ghosts at the Belasco! LOL!

Posted: 8/30/06 at 3:20pmMost bway theatres have ghost stories like this. The same for colleges and universities around the country. Something strange in our culture sets this off, it's a weird collective phenomena.

When I went to see Awake and SIng, I asked the box office lady about the theater and she said that most of the poeple working there (ushers and BO people) are afraid to go to the attic/Belasco's former apartment because they've seen things up there. She also said that the attic itself is in terrible condition and there's practically a hole in the middle of the floor. Thats a theater I'd love to do a tour of!

The theater was featured in No Way To Treat A Lady with Rod Steiger
I have no doubt it is haunted. Maybe by the ghost of Dracula
