Hey everyone. Question!
Why are all the headshots that I see in playbills not from the bust up? It's just their face? I thought that you needed to show your bust in order for it to be a decent shot???
Also, I need a headshot for an upcoming audition and I took the one you see here on my avatar. Besides that my face is too angled, would you consider it a bad shot because there is not a bust showing???? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I make my own headshots right now cuz i have no money to pay a professional. Also, any help regarding general picture and editing ideas would also be a great help. THANKS!!!!
Re: the Playbill question. It makes more sense to use headshots that way you can recognize the cast members onstage. If they were to use body shots, it would take up too much space - unless they shrunk the pictures, which would make the facial detail too difficult to see.
Exactly. Those headshots are all cropped for Playbills to just show the face to make them recognizable while fitting them all on 1 or 2 pages. The original headshots are more in line with what you described.

The angle is odd -- and black and white is dead. This is not the best forum for headshot info. Go to backstage.com - there is a forum specifically for headshots.
Hey, you mentioned that you don't have much money right now, but some photographers like me have reduced their pricing due to the economic situation. I used to charge $600 for one hour, and now I do the same for $150. And they are really good headshots. Check out http://www.klausenrique.com/headshots.html

Be a great actor, singer, dancer first. If your audition is that good - little things like whether your bust is showing or whether your photo is black and white or color are not going to make a difference
