I have a few questions about how Dames at Sea is being done at the Helen Hayes.. It is not part of 2ST, correct? Is the theater for independent renting until 2ST officially takes over? I just read that their first show will be performed in the 17/18 season after renovations so I'm wondering what the timeline and ownership of the theater is.. Anyone have any info?

They own the theatre and will rent it until, presumably, they are ready to start renovating.

If they are still renovating doesn't that mean Dames at Sea is a limited run? They have to kick them out eventually to be able to renovate

A successful show (jury is still out obviously) will give 2ST much needed money for the renovation. I suppose the run is limited in the literal sense but not necessarily in the conventional sense. If it runs 2 years (I don think it will but I certainly don't know that) I think 2ST could and would adjust its schedule accordingly. They need money.
